Job Description
Job Title: Legal Counsel – In‑house – Real Estate Finance Role Summary: Senior solicitor providing legal support on real‑estate financing transactions within a multinational banking environment. Works closely with business units, senior legal staff, and external counsel to draft, review, and manage loan and security documentation, ensuring compliance with banking regulations and internal policies. Expectations: Deliver timely, high‑quality legal advice on complex corporate financing and real‑estate transactions; manage transaction trackers; liaise with senior leadership and Data Privacy Officer; maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory changes. Key Responsibilities: - Draft and review syndicated and bilateral loan agreements, trade finance documents, and private banking facilities. - Prepare facility letters and security documents (debentures, charge documents, guarantees). - Manage transaction tracks, monitor milestones, and ensure documentation integrity. - Coordinate with Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal on complex transactions. - Source and negotiate fees with external counsel, obtain approvals. - Communicate with business units to gather necessary information and provide legal updates. - Review existing documents post‑transaction for compliance and completeness. - Analyze forthcoming legislation and assess impact on banking operations. - Uphold internal policies, procedures, SLAs, and manuals. Required Skills: - Minimum 3+ years post‑qualification legal experience (in‑house or private practice). - Expertise in real‑estate finance and UK banking loan documentation. - Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation abilities. - Proficient in managing multiple concurrent legal tasks with tight deadlines. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidance in a fast‑moving environment. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified solicitor in the UK (Solicitor’s Law Society or equivalent). - Current registration with the relevant legal governing body.
