Job Description
Job title: Space Systems Engineer (M/F) Role Summary: Report to a senior system architect to analyze satellite missions and define operating points for a 5‑satellite constellation. Responsibilities include orbital optimization, system sizing, link budget evaluation, imaging performance modeling, and technical communication. Expectations: Apply advanced mechanics, geometry, and statistics to support decision making on orbital design, data return strategies, and system architecture. Translate simulation results into clear videos and visualizations for stakeholders. Key Responsibilities - Optimize orbits (heliosynchronous vs inclined) to balance revisit frequency, global coverage, and ground‑station visibility. - Define and evaluate multiple system operation points for different data downlink strategies. - Analyze link budgets for X, Ka, and optical bands, incorporating service provider parameters. - Model seasonal illumination effects and signal‑to‑noise ratio to guarantee imaging quality. - Produce explanatory videos and dynamic visualizations (VTS/STK, similar) illustrating constellation performance scenarios. - Collaborate with senior architects on system architecture decisions and technical documentation. Required Skills Hard Skills - Advanced mathematics: vectors, 3D geometry, elementary statistics. - Space mechanics: orbital dynamics, perturbations, coordinate systems. - Spacecraft systems: satellite architecture and payloads for Earth observation. - Simulation tools: CNES libraries, GMAT, Orekit, STK. - Scripting: Python or MATLAB for model development and data analysis. Soft Skills - Analytical mindset and scientific rigor. - Ability to communicate complex concepts in layman’s terms (video/visual content). - Autonomous problem‑solving and curiosity toward NewSpace innovations.
