**Job title:**
kdb+ Contractor
**Role Summary:**
Senior kdb+ developer responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining high‑performance time‑series data systems for financial clients. Leads technical delivery, mentors developers, and collaborates closely with quants, traders, and analysts to deliver scalable, robust solutions.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver end‑to‑end kdb+ solutions that meet or exceed performance targets.
- Provide technical leadership, set coding standards, and drive continuous improvement.
- Effectively communicate complex architectural decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, scalability, and maintainability of production systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Design, implement, and optimize kdb+/q architectures handling billions of rows of time‑series data.
2. Lead the full development lifecycle: coding, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of client applications.
3. Collaborate with quants, traders, and analysts to translate business requirements into efficient, high‑performance code.
4. Mentor junior and mid‑level developers, fostering best practices and code quality.
5. Stay current with kdb+, q, and related technologies; recommend innovations to improve system performance and reliability.
6. Engage in capacity planning, tuning, and scalability testing of kdb+ installations in Unix/Linux environments.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep hands‑on experience with kdb+/q and time‑series data solutions.
- Proven track record designing and scaling kdb+ architectures in production.
- Strong Unix/Linux proficiency and scripting skills.
- Demonstrated technical leadership on fast‑paced projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain complex systems to diverse audiences.
- Understanding of capital markets, investment banking, or related financial domains.
- Commitment to clean, performant code and continuous improvement.
**Bonus Skills:**
- Python programming, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), or other time‑series databases.
- Experience with tick data, real‑time analytics, or electronic trading systems.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in kdb+/q, Unix/Linux, or cloud platforms preferred but not mandatory.
