Job Description

**Job Title:** Software Engineer (Back‑End) **Role Summary:** Deliver high‑quality, scalable back‑end services for a biodiversity data platform. Design and implement microservices (REST/GraphQL), data pipelines, and identity solutions while maintaining cloud infrastructure and automation. Collaborate cross‑functionally with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams. **Expectations:** - Deliver robust, scalable back‑end components on schedule and within budget. - Establish a well‑documented microservices architecture enabling rapid feature roll‑outs. - Build reliable, efficient data pipelines that support AI and bioinformatics workloads. - Maintain secure, automated deployment and monitoring across AWS/Azure/GCP. - Actively contribute to team collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and develop back‑end services for the biodiversity platform (API, GraphQL, microservices). - Build and maintain data pipelines for AI, ML, and bioinformatics applications. - Integrate identity & single‑sign‑on solutions across applications. - Deploy and manage containerized services on Kubernetes (Argo CD). - Implement DevOps practices: CI/CD, automated testing (BDD/TDD), monitoring, and documentation. - Mentor bioinformatics data scientists on cloud‑first pipeline development. - Ensure API security, compliance, and proper documentation. - Participate in Agile ceremonies and deliver on sprint commitments. **Required Skills:** - Programming: Go and Python (Node.js/TypeScript a plus). - APIs: RESTful services, GraphQL. - Testing: BDD/TDD frameworks. - Databases: Neo4j, NoSQL, relational databases. - Architecture: Microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, Argo CD. - Cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP with DevOps experience. - Security: API authentication, authorization, and documentation. - Optional: Geospatial data expertise, experience in healthtech/life sciences, familiarity with SaaS products. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
