**Job Title**
Lead Platform Engineer (Azure)
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, deployment, and management of a highly available, secure, and cost‑efficient Azure cloud platform for a high‑frequency crypto exchange. Own automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and operational excellence while mentoring a small engineering team and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
**Expectations**
- Deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant infrastructure that meets the demands of a global, regulated trading environment.
- Drive continuous improvement of cost, performance, and security metrics.
- Mentor one junior engineer and prepare the team for growth within 12 months.
- Lead technical discussions with product, security, and compliance leaders.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect, build, and operate compute, storage, networking, and security components on Azure.
- Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform and Terragrunt, ensuring reproducible, version‑controlled deployments.
- Automate cloud operations, monitoring, alerting, and incident response workflows.
- Optimize platform cost through resource sizing, reserved instances, and tagging strategies.
- Enforce security best practices, including identity & access management, network segmentation, and encryption.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and compliance teams to meet regulatory requirements.
- Mentor engineering staff, conduct code reviews, and drive technical excellence.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in Azure services (VMs, AKS, App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Networking, Azure Storage, Azure Key Vault).
- Strong Terraform and Terragrunt proficiency; experience writing reusable modules.
- Advanced knowledge of security‑by‑design principles, IAM, network security groups, and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitOps, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Performance tuning, cost management, and capacity planning in a high‑volume environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Proven track record in a trading, financial services, or regulated infrastructure context.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Azure certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
