**Job Title:** Youth & Community Worker
**Role Summary:**
Provide relational, trauma‑informed support to children and young people in high‑need areas of Gloucestershire. Deliver interventions in homes, schools, and community settings, strengthen community resilience, and work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners to reduce anti‑social behaviour, youth violence, and other harms.
**Expectations:**
- Build trusted, strengths‑based relationships with children, young people, families, and community stakeholders.
- Operate flexibly to be present where and when young people need support.
- Contribute to a team delivering a place‑based, systemic approach to safeguarding and early help.
- Maintain professional standards, confidentiality, and up‑to‑date safeguarding knowledge.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Deliver trauma‑informed, relational interventions individually, in groups, and within community spaces, including The Aston Award activities.
- Identify and engage young people experiencing complex challenges (e.g., anti‑social behaviour, criminal exploitation, youth violence).
- Coordinate with the Harm Outside the Home Hub, Youth Justice Service, Multi‑Agency Child Exploitation (MACE), Early Help Community Response Network, and Family & Youth Hubs.
- Develop and facilitate safe spaces, positive opportunities, and support networks for children and young people.
- Conduct risk assessments and contextual safeguarding checks; record and share relevant information with partner agencies.
- Contribute to team meetings, case reviews, and project evaluation; provide robust supervision documentation.
- Promote the ethos of The Aston Project and assist in its development and delivery.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven ability to build rapport and trust with children, young people, and families.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed and relational youth work practice.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative problem‑solving and assertive engagement techniques.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and contextual safeguarding frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multi‑agency settings.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, and record‑keeping abilities.
- Resilience and flexibility to respond to changing priorities and emergent situations.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, Community Development, or a related field (e.g., Level 3/4 Youth Work Diploma, BA/Hons in Social Work, Community Practice, or equivalent).
- Current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance (or ability to obtain).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
- Ongoing professional development in trauma‑informed practice and safeguarding (highly desirable).
