Job title: Head of Software Development
Role Summary: Senior leader responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of proprietary software solutions used internally and by clients in the energy sector.
Expectations: Lead technology strategy, drive modern development practices, ensure high-quality, secure, and scalable software. Oversee project delivery, budget, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather business requirements and translate them into architectural designs and technical specifications.
- Define and evolve software architecture, choosing appropriate technologies and ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Lead development teams (in‑house and external), fostering Agile (Scrum) practices, code quality, and continuous integration/deployment.
- Manage IT projects: planning, budgeting, risk assessment, and delivery against time, cost, and quality targets.
- Conduct technology scouting to identify and adopt emerging tools, frameworks, and cloud services.
- Ensure alignment of IT initiatives with business goals and maintain documentation and compliance with standards.
- Mentor and develop team members, promote a collaborative culture, and manage cross‑functional communication.
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in software architecture and Java programming.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, OVH).
- Proficiency in Agile project management (Scrum) and collaborative tools (Redmine, Sourcetree).
- Knowledge of JavaFX, Jakarta EE (Eclipse), and hardware fundamentals is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in French and English.
- Proven leadership, autonomy, and strategic vision.
Required Education & Certifications:
- PhD or Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
- Certifications in cloud platforms, Agile (e.g., CSPO, CSM), or software architecture are advantageous.
