Job Description
**Job Title:** Packaging Sustainability Specialist **Role Summary:** Provide administrative and technical support for packaging sustainability initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate sustainability data management, and cross‑functional collaboration to meet corporate environmental commitments and commercial objectives. **Expectations:** - Maintain up‑to‑date sustainability documentation and product passports. - Ensure packaging compliance with current and emerging regulations across markets. - Support commercial and technical teams with accurate data to drive sustainable packaging decisions. - Act as a liaison for packaging‑related tax and waste reporting matters. **Key Responsibilities:** - Create, update, and upload Product Passports for new and existing products. - Manage sustainability data (packaging attributes, certifications, waste program applicability). - Track recyclability labeling compliance and coordinate artwork updates with project and regulatory teams. - Prepare market‑specific waste reporting disclosures (EPR, DRS) using sales and packaging data. - Respond to packaging tax queries and monitor regional policy changes. - Compile and maintain supporting documents (recyclability assessments, food safety certificates, PCR content verifications). - Provide documentation, cost analysis, and design rule compliance support to sustainability forums and technical teams. - Advise strategic teams on packaging changes required for regulatory compliance and sustainability transitions. - Collaborate with Product Supply, Global Sustainability (Chicago), and European Commercial teams. **Required Skills:** - Strong organizational and document‑management abilities. - Knowledge of disposal schemes (e.g., OPRL, RecyClass) and packaging recyclability assessment methods. - Ability to interpret and apply multi‑market regulatory requirements (CSRD, EPR, etc.). - Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and SharePoint. - Effective written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset across functions. - Familiarity with digital sustainability tools and databases. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Packaging Engineering, Sustainability, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Relevant certifications or training in sustainability reporting, packaging compliance, or environmental legislation are advantageous.
