Job Description
**Job Title**: Desktop Support Engineer **Role Summary**: Deliver daily L1/L2 desktop and onsite support for Windows desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals while maintaining operational support for Windows Server, Hyper‑V, Veeam Backup, HP Storage, and Microsoft SQL Server. Operate within UK business hours and follow ITIL processes. **Expectations**: Provide reliable, timely incident and request resolution; perform hardware troubleshooting, replacements, and installations; coordinate with NOC and vendors; maintain accurate ServiceNow documentation; demonstrate strong hands‑on onsite capability and adherence to change and escalation procedures. **Key Responsibilities**: - Provide L1/L2 end‑user desktop support (Windows). - Troubleshoot, replace, and install hardware components. - Execute onsite coordination, device resets, and cable management. - Handle incidents and requests in ServiceNow, following ITIL. - Perform Windows Server maintenance and monitor Hyper‑V clusters. - Monitor Veeam backups, conduct basic restores, and manage tape rotation. - Operate HP Storage (SAN) monitoring. - Conduct basic Microsoft SQL Server administration. - Support Active Directory functions. - Apply patching, firmware updates, and backup tape management. - Liaise with OEM vendors and follow escalation matrix. **Required Skills**: - Windows desktop support experience. - Basic Windows Server knowledge. - Hyper‑V exposure. - Veeam Backup familiarity. - ServiceNow usage and ITIL awareness. - Hands‑on onsite support readiness. - Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Relevant IT qualification or diploma (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MCSA). - Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals, or equivalent are advantageous.
