Job Description
Job title: Senior / Principal Machine Learning Scientist Role Summary: Leads cutting‑edge generative AI/ML research to model multi‑modal biological data for cell health and rejuvenation. Drives technical vision, develops large‑scale ML systems, and mentors a multidisciplinary team. Expactations: • Design and publish novel ML methods (generative, causal, diffusion, transformer architectures) to address cell biology challenges. • Translate theoretical advances into high‑impact applications for drug target discovery and cellular perturbation prediction. • Own end‑to‑end ML lifecycle: data strategy, model design, training, evaluation, and deployment. • Mentor and elevate scientific rigor across ML scientists and engineers. • Foster collaboration with computational biology, systems biology, and translational research groups. Key Responsibilities: - Pioneer new ML methodologies and statistical frameworks for multi‑modal, multiscale biology. - Design, implement, and optimize large‑scale ML pipelines using PyTorch/JAX and agile practices. - Develop distributed training strategies across multi‑GPU clusters to handle terabytes of data. - Integrate multi‑modal data and map cross‑domain relationships for actionable insights. - Apply computational approaches to drug target identification, compound assessment, and cellular response prediction. - Guide the full ML development lifecycle and mentor junior ML talent. - Contribute to the Institute of Computation’s long‑term technical vision and research strategy. Required Skills: - 6+ years post‑PhD experience in high‑performance ML/AI research; proven record of peer‑reviewed publications (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.). - Deep expertise in generative models, transformers, diffusion models, causal inference, Bayesian reasoning, transfer/multi‑task learning, graph neural networks, or related advanced methods. - Strong programming proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX; experience writing production‑grade code. - Competence in multi‑GPU and distributed training at scale. - Excellent scientific communication (written and oral) across technical and non‑technical audiences. - Collaborative mindset with strong mentorship and knowledge‑sharing skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or related quantitative field. - (No specific certifications required; commitment to continual learning preferred.)
