Hometree is a home energy services company on a mission to accelerate the transition to net zero. By fixing, installing and financing home energy hardware, we're helping homeowners transition to low-carbon living, when they’re ready.

Heating is responsible for 14% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. If we're serious about hitting those net zero goals to mitigate the climate emergency, we need to act. The transition has already begun but it’s a mammoth task and it won’t happen overnight. We know the challenges on the table – with soaring energy costs, expensive heat pumps and home infrastructure challenges, homeowners are left with many pressing questions - which option should I choose - heat pump or hydrogen boiler? Who will install the equipment - and- how will I afford it?

That's where Hometree comes in. We understand that homeowners will make the journey at their own pace - and our role is to assist them along the way. Today, we offer boiler and home emergency cover - but we’re rapidly expanding our products and services to install and finance low-carbon home energy hardware, so that we can help steer more UK homeowners to a cleaner and brighter future.

Job title Senior Full Stack Developer Role Summary Lead end‑to‑end web application development using NodeJS/Serverless SDKs on the back end and Next.js/React/TypeScript on the front end to create scalable, high‑performance solutions for partner and consumer platforms. Expectations * Deliver clean, maintainable code with comprehensive tests. * Own features from requirement analysis to production release. * Collaborate with product, growth, and operations teams to translate business needs into technical specifications. * Maintain high reliability, speed, and security of the platform through continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities 1. Design, develop, and deploy full‑stack web applications (NodeJS/Serverless back‑end, Next.js/React front‑end). 2. Create, document, and maintain robust RESTful APIs. 3. Write and run unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests; integrate tests into CI pipelines. 4. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve stack-wide issues; provide ongoing platform maintenance. 5. Produce clear, concise documentation for code, APIs, system architecture, and operational runbooks. 6. Stay current with industry trends; evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and improvement opportunities. Required Skills * 5+ years of full‑stack development with NodeJS/Serverless and React/Next.js. * Strong architectural and design skills for scalable, high‑performance solutions. * Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and modern web development best practices. * Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and performance optimization. * Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. * Self‑starter with ownership mindset; can work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams. * Time‑management skills to juggle multiple initiatives and meet deadlines. Required Education & Certifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). * Related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate) are a plus but not mandatory.
