**Job Title**
Privacy Lawyer – Global Payments/Fintech Platform (Interim, Up to 12 Months)
**Role Summary**
Provide 12‑month interim legal counsel on privacy and data protection for a global payments/fintech platform. Advise on GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and other applicable privacy frameworks, embed privacy into product, engineering, and compliance workflows, and manage regulatory interactions and user escalations.
**Expectations**
- Deliver timely and practical privacy advice to product and engineering teams.
- Manage cross‑border regulatory inquiries and user privacy complaints.
- Influence product design and business decisions with a privacy‑first mindset.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Advise on GDPR, CCPA, UK Data Protection Act, and emerging privacy laws.
- Draft, review, and update privacy policies, terms, data processing agreements, and third‑party contracts.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and risk assessments for new features/technologies.
- Counsel on data subject requests, cross‑border data transfers, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with product, engineering, compliance, and marketing to integrate privacy controls across B2B/B2C offerings.
- Respond to regulators and manage privacy‑related user escalations.
- Monitor and report on regulatory developments and provide training to internal stakeholders.
**Required Skills**
- In‑depth knowledge of EU GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and global privacy regimes.
- Proven experience advising tech‑driven B2B/B2C platforms, especially in payments or fintech.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation abilities.
- Capacity to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business solutions.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable navigating cross‑border data flows and multi‑jurisdictional regulatory frameworks.
- Pragmatic, adaptable, and commercially oriented mindset.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Qualified UK or EU lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent legal practitioner).
- Call to the Bar, Solicitor qualification, or recognized law degree with admission to practice.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM) preferred but not mandatory.
