Job Description
**Job Title:** Electrical Engineer – Security Devices **Role Summary:** Electrical Engineer responsible for managing product testing and compliance projects for security devices, ensuring adherence to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards and client specifications, while coordinating laboratory activities and client communications. **Expectations:** - Deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting all UL compliance requirements. - Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients, addressing technical questions and resolving concerns. - Continuously improve testing processes, documentation, and client service quality. **Key Responsibilities:** - Define project scope, develop preliminary investigation plans, and estimate cost, time, and sample needs. - Conduct on‑site client visits and tests; review samples for compliance with UL requirements. - Create test programs, prepare data sheets, instructions, and coordinate laboratory technicians and assistants. - Manage administrative aspects of projects, including scheduling, reports, and status updates. - Serve as Project Handler or Reviewer of record as assigned. - Resolve engineering issues related to Variation Notices and analyze variation acceptability. - Assist in developing UL requirements, special test methods, and testing equipment. - Perform file reviews and represent UL at industry functions such as seminars and trade shows. - Adhere to UL Code of Conduct and all security practices. **Required Skills:** - Solid electrical engineering background with familiarity in security device testing. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication, client‑facing skills. - Project management skills, including scope definition, cost/time estimation, and coordination of resources. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. - Prior experience or internships in security device testing preferred. - Knowledge of UL standards and testing procedures; certification in UL testing methods is an advantage.
