Job Title: Finance Data Scientist
Role Summary: Fusion of finance acumen and advanced analytics to modernize reporting, forecast, and decision‑making. Drives reliable, data‑driven insights across FP&A, operations, and commercial teams through Power BI, predictive modeling, and governed data pipelines.
Expactations: Deliver accurate, timely financial analyses, produce "source of truth" dashboards, embed finance logic into scalable data models, automate reporting workflows, and communicate insights to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, and FP&A cycles (budgeting, forecasting, performance reviews).
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards (Power Query, DAX, data modelling) covering revenue, cost, margin, headcount, and operational KPIs.
- Design and implement predictive/statistical models (regression, classification, anomaly detection, clustering) to enhance forecasting and operations.
- Translate business rules and financial controls into robust, governed data models; incorporate reconciliation logic in data pipelines.
- Automate refreshes and reporting pipelines; streamline manual processes to repeatable, error‑free workflows.
- Partner with FP&A, Finance, Data Engineering, Data Product Manager, HR/Reward, Sales Ops, and senior leaders on high‑impact analytical projects and ad‑hoc problem solving.
Required Skills:
- Finance: ACCA/CIMA/ACA (or equivalent) qualified; deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost/margin analysis, financial controls, month‑end processes.
- Analytics: Advanced Power BI (DAX, Power Query, M‑language, data modelling); strong SQL; Python or R for statistical analysis, modeling, automation.
- Data science: Predictive modeling, machine learning (scikit‑learn, pandas, NumPy); feature engineering, model evaluation, algorithm selection.
- Technical: Familiarity with data lakehouse/cloud data platforms, API integration, large datasets.
- Communication: Clear presentation of complex data to non‑technical audiences; high‑level reporting (PowerPoint).
- Project management: Multi‑priority handling, detail orientation, independent work, cross‑functional collaboration.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualification (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Analytics or data platform certifications (Power BI, SQL, Python, AI/ML, cloud data services) are an advantage.
