Project Director – Data Centres (Consultancy)
**Role Summary**
Senior construction leader responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of data‑centre programmes (new builds, expansions, upgrades) for blue‑chip clients. Sets strategy, governs programme execution, and builds a high‑performing delivery team across the UK and Europe.
**Expectations**
- Define and execute data‑centre portfolio strategy aligned with client and business objectives.
- Deliver complex, high‑capex programmes on schedule, within budget, and meeting SLA/ performance standards.
- Lead a growing team, fostering a solutions‑focused culture and ensuring safety and quality.
- Maintain commercial profitability and uphold sustainability targets (carbon, water, circularity).
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead full project lifecycle: strategy, feasibility, site selection, design management, procurement, construction, commissioning.
- Drive power and sustainability decisions (grid, on‑site generation, renewables, PPA, resilience).
- Establish and run programme governance: schedule, risk, cost, change control, reporting, data‑driven insights.
- Develop commercial and supply‑chain strategy: market engagement, contract formation (NEC/JCT/FIDIC), performance management.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, operators, JV partners, utilities, and mission‑critical vendors while protecting live operations.
- Recruit, coach, and line‑manage senior project managers and assistant directors.
**Required Skills**
- Proven delivery of data‑centre projects (consultancy, developer, or Tier‑1) including hyperscale or large colocation.
- Deep technical knowledge of power, cooling, scalability, fit‑out phasing, and commissioning in mission‑critical environments.
- Strong commercial acumen: procurement, cost planning, contract negotiation, change management on multi‑package programmes.
- Exceptional leadership, decision‑making, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Digital fluency with project controls, reporting tools, and common data environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil/MEP Engineering, or related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, CEng, MCIPS) desirable but not mandatory.
