Job Description
Job title: Data Scientist Role Summary: The Data Scientist leads analytical initiatives within Digital Services, applying statistical analysis and machine learning to develop data products, optimise live services, and inform policy and marketing decisions. The role delivers insights from diverse datasets, supports product reliability, and drives continuous improvement through data-driven decisions. Expectations: Deliver high‑value analytical products and services on time and to quality standards; maintain and enhance live data services; communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders; champion data science best practices; exhibit commercial awareness and customer focus; mentor junior team members. Key Responsibilities: - Explore and analyze existing and new datasets using visualization, statistical tests, supervised and unsupervised ML techniques. - Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for product development, marketing optimization, and policy research. - Develop, test, and deploy statistical, numerical, and machine‑learning models ensuring robustness and scalability. - Support live data products, monitoring performance and implementing iterative improvements. - Communicate results effectively through reports, dashboards, and presentations to diverse audiences. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align analytics with business objectives. - Mentor peers and junior staff in data science methodologies and tools. Required Skills: - Programming proficiency in Python and/or R with clean, efficient code. - Strong analytical and logical thinking; critical problem‑solving skills. - Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, ggplot2). - Proven track record of developing, testing, and deploying statistical and machine‑learning models. - Ability to translate analytical outcomes into business benefits. - Excellent communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences. - Collaborative mindset, curiosity, and commercial awareness. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, operations research, data science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience. - Certifications in data science or analytics tools are advantageous but not mandatory.
