Job Description

**Job Title:** Legal Counsel (14-Month Fixed Term Contract) **Role Summary:** Provide in‐house legal support to commercial teams, drafting, negotiating, and executing a wide range of commercial agreements, advising on data protection/e‑privacy, and developing legal processes and policies. Works independently to deliver timely, value‐added legal advice that drives business decisions. **Expectations:** * Deliver high‑quality commercial legal advice across diverse business initiatives. * Actively maintain and improve contractual and compliance processes. * Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on acquisitions, integrations, and new product launches. * Manage risk through prompt assessment and mitigation. * Operate autonomously while meeting tight deadlines. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Draft, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements (vendor contracts, partnerships, service agreements, etc.). 2. Provide day‑to‑day legal perspective, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. 3. Advise on data protection, e‑privacy, and related regulatory compliance. 4. Support acquisition and integration projects – due diligence, contract review, and integration of policies. 5. Develop and maintain legal policies, procedures, and precedents. 6. Ensure alignment of legal frameworks with commercial objectives. **Required Skills:** - Excellent drafting and negotiation of complex commercial contracts. - Strong understanding of commercial law and in‑house delivery. - Knowledge of IT, data protection, and e‑privacy laws. - Ability to work independently under minimal supervision. - Effective communication and stakeholder management. - Analytical mindset for risk identification and mitigation. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or another common law jurisdiction). - 1–5 years post‑qualification experience in‑house or commercial/corporate law firm, providing comprehensive commercial legal support. - Proven ability to handle tight deadlines and dynamic business environments. *Desirable:* - Familiarity with intellectual property, competition law, and regulated sectors. - Experience within insurance or financial services.
