Job Title: R&D – Perception, Mapping and Navigation Engineer (H/F)
Role Summary: Design, develop, and validate perception, mapping, SLAM, and navigation algorithms for advanced exoskeletons and humanoid robots, integrating machine learning, classical computer vision, and model‑based control. Work across R&D, embedded software, electronics, and mechanics teams to ensure robust autonomous operation in real‑world environments.
Expectations: Minimum 6 + years in industrial R&D focused on perception or navigation; strong academic background beneficial. Demonstrated experience with robotics kinematics, SLAM, path planning, and real‑time algorithm deployment on hardware.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select and integrate vision/perception sensors suitable for robotic platforms.
- Conduct literature reviews and present state‑of‑the‑art findings to cross‑functional teams.
- Develop object detection, pose estimation, and feature extraction algorithms.
- Build and maintain high‑fidelity environmental maps for navigation.
- Implement navigation and control solutions for exoskeleton assistance and humanoid autonomy.
- Collaborate with embedded, electronics, and mechanical teams to align performance objectives.
- Validate algorithms through simulation and on‑board testing with real robots.
- Perform field deployments at customer sites, troubleshoot, and refine algorithms for production readiness.
- Create automated testing, CI pipelines, and code quality frameworks to prevent regressions.
Required Skills:
- Python (expert)
- C++ (expert)
- Vision & SLAM – feature detection, mapping, SLAM pipelines (expert)
- Navigation – path planning, tracking (expert)
- Machine learning – data analysis, augmentation, labeling, validation (autonomous)
- Robotics – kinematics, odometry, real‑data analysis (autonomous)
- Linear algebra & numerical optimization (autonomous)
- Control systems fundamentals (basic knowledge)
- Continuous integration, automated testing, and modular software engineering (autonomous)
Required Education & Certifications:
- Engineering degree or PhD in perception, navigation, robotics, machine learning, or related field.
- Certifications in software development or robotics not mandatory but may be considered a plus.
