Job title: Principal Backend / Fullstack Engineer (E-commerce & Platform Integrations)
Role Summary: Senior technical leader focused on designing, building, and maintaining the backend architecture, APIs, and integrations that power scalable e‑commerce, loyalty, and clienteling experiences across cloud platforms.
Expactations: • Lead technical architecture decisions and establish engineering standards. • Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in CI/CD, observability, and DevOps. • Collaborate cross‑functionally with front‑end, data, and product teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions and API ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities: • Own backend and API architecture for BigCommerce, loyalty programs, and clienteling systems. • Develop and maintain Node.js/TypeScript services and microservices. • Design and implement scalable, secure APIs for CMS, DAM, and analytics integration. • Lead cross‑border commerce, payment gateway, fulfillment, and delivery partner integrations. • Define and enforce observability, logging, and alerting standards (NewRelic, Datadog, CloudWatch). • Contribute to DevOps automation, CI/CD pipeline improvements, and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform). • Mentor developers and enforce coding, security, and performance standards.
Required Skills: • 8+ years of backend or full‑stack engineering experience. • Expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, REST/GraphQL API design. • Microservices architecture design and deployment. • Cloud platform proficiency (AWS or GCP) including Lambda, ECS, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub. • Experience with event‑driven pipelines (Kafka, Pub/Sub). • Strong knowledge of authentication, security, scalability, performance. • CI/CD tools, containerisation (Docker), and IaC (Terraform). • Observability tools and KPI tracking.
Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
