Job Description
Job title: One-to-One Teaching Assistant Role Summary: Provide individualized support to pupils with a wide range of special educational and learning needs, facilitating their academic progress, social development, and independence within the school environment. Expectations: Deliver 1:1 and group support, manage behaviour challenges, maintain accurate records, collaborate with teaching staff and SENDCo, participate in staff meetings and professional development, travel for school visits, and demonstrate high initiative and accuracy. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver 1:1 support and small group intervention during lessons, lunch, break, and unstructured times. - Accompany pupils on organised school visits. - Assist SENDCo with development of pupils’ social skills and appropriate behaviour. - Participate in creation, delivery, and monitoring of individualised education programmes. - Support pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional/ anxiety responses. - Keep accurate, clear, and neat records of pupil progress and incidents. - Collaborate with teaching staff for effective support integration and curriculum delivery (Key Stages 2‑4). - Attend weekly staff meetings, INSET/CPD events, and relevant working groups. - Contribute to a flexible, supportive team culture and school ethos. Required Skills: - Ability to work independently with high accuracy. - Strong time‑management and flexible scheduling. - Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. - Team‑working and collaborative planning abilities. - Basic first aid knowledge. - Knowledge of child development and various learning styles (advantageous). - Understanding of ACES and trauma impact (advantageous). Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum GCSE level academic qualification. - Minimum NVQ Level 2 professional qualification or proven equivalent experience. - Basic first aid qualification. - Full driving licence and access to a vehicle. - Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check.
