Job Description
**Job Title** Senior Data Engineer – Finance Tech **Role Summary** Design, develop and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines on Azure Databricks, Kafka and Delta Lake for a financial services platform. Own the data platform’s reliability, performance and cost, while collaborating with platform engineering, data science and business stakeholders to provide trusted analytics datasets. **Expectations** * Own and evolve production‑grade Spark/Scala pipelines. * Maintain dimensional data models (bronze/silver/gold). * Ensure data quality through dbt tests and monitoring. * Act as the primary data engineering technical lead with minimal supervision. * Champion adoption of Databricks features and AI coding tools. **Key Responsibilities** - Own and maintain ingestion pipelines from multiple sources into Databricks. - Design, build and optimize Spark/Scala jobs for data ingestion and transformation. - Deploy and manage pipelines using GitHub Actions and Terraform. - Implement and run dbt tests to enforce data quality and consistency. - Extend and maintain Delta Lake tables for analytics using a layered architecture. - Collaborate with analysts, software engineers and business users via Sigma to deliver trusted datasets. - Monitor, troubleshoot and improve pipeline reliability, performance and cost. - Document pipelines, datasets and data contracts; act as the main point of contact for data engineering topics. - Investigate and resolve data quality incidents and pipeline failures. - Drive adoption of new Databricks features and experiment with AI coding agents. **Required Skills** - Production experience as a Data Engineer with Spark on Databricks. - Strong Scala skills (or PySpark with strong willingness to use Scala). - Advanced SQL skills for transformations, data modelling and debugging. - End‑to‑end ingestion pipeline development and maintenance. - Experience with dimensional modelling (star schema, facts/dimensions). - Familiarity with bronze/silver/gold layered data architecture. - CI/CD knowledge with GitHub Actions and Terraform on Azure. - Writing well‑tested, maintainable pipelines (unit, integration and dbt tests). - Ability to work independently, own the platform and drive tasks to completion. - Knowledge of financial terminology and stakeholder needs. **Required Education & Certifications** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent professional experience. Certifications in Azure Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Certified Associate Developer or similar are a plus.
