Job title
Sr. Principal Electrical Integration Engineer – DCI (Remote)
Role Summary
Lead end‑to‑end electrical system design, integration, and validation for data center power and cooling products, energy storage systems, and HVAC applications. Own full‑stack electrical engineering from generator interfaces to AI rack integration, ensuring scalable, reliable, and compliant infrastructure solutions.
Expactations
- Deliver high‑quality, standards‑compliant designs for MV/HV power distribution, UPS, and rack power systems.
- Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and testing to meet UL, IEC, NEC, CE, RoHS, and REACH requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence cross‑functional teams on manufacturability and cost optimization.
- Manage project timelines, documentation, and supplier coordination to achieve on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and validate single‑line and three‑phase power distribution diagrams; perform load calculations, short‑circuit analysis, arc‑flash studies, and thermal modeling (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower).
- Engineer MV/HV components (switchgear, transformers, busways, protective relays) and select components (circuit breakers, contactors, CTs/PTs, surge protectors).
- Plan generator‑to‑rack electrical distribution, including power redundancy, load segmentation, grounding, EMI shielding, and thermal management.
- Develop and implement controls architecture: PLCs, SCADA, Modbus/BACnet/SNMP, sensor integration, and remote monitoring.
- Create fabrication specifications, panel builds, cable routing, wiring harness designs, and oversee manufacturability and serviceability.
- Lead prototype builds, field deployments, and customer engagements; resolve fabrication and quality issues.
- Produce and maintain engineering documentation: BOMs, test procedures, engineering change orders (ECOs), and design reviews.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction and design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM).
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of high‑efficiency power conversion and point‑of‑load regulation for AI/ML server racks.
- Expertise in rack power zoning, load balancing, redundancy, and tiered compute workload strategies.
- Proficiency in designing and validating three‑phase power systems, fault protection, and redundancy for high‑availability environments.
- Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, UL, IEC, CE, RoHS, and REACH standards.
- Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent electrical analysis software.
- Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, and communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, SNMP).
- Excellent documentation, risk assessment, and design review skills.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities within cross‑functional engineering teams.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8+ years of electrical design and fabrication experience focused on data center or industrial power systems.
