Job Description
**Job Title:** Bioinformatics Specialist **Role Summary:** Lead computational biology projects as a scientific manager, overseeing program management of key accounts. Coordinate multiple research initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of bioinformatics analyses, stakeholder alignment, and documentation standardisation. **Expectations:** - Project-driven, analytical mindset. - Multidisciplinary collaboration with IT, biology, chemistry, and statistics teams. - Strong communication, customer focus, and initiative. - Fluent in English (written and spoken). - Able to work remotely in Belgium, with optional office visits and quarterly client visits. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Manage end-to-end bioinformatics projects, including scoping, designing pipelines, and resource allocation. 2. Deliver on project timelines, budget, and quality standards. 3. Communicate progress, results, and recommendations to internal teams and external clients. 4. Standardise documentation, templates, and workflows across projects. 5. Summarise complex datasets into concise, client‑ready reports and presentations. 6. Coordinate task distribution, monitor milestones, and adjust resource assignments as needed. 7. Foster continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and best‑practice implementation. 8. Maintain ongoing relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment of objectives and expectations. **Required Skills:** - Advanced programming in Python and R. - Expertise in at least one of: microbiome analysis, RNA‑seq (bulk, single‑cell, spatial), WES/WGS. - Experience with public code repositories and peer‑reviewed publications. - Project management experience outside academia (e.g., methodology, risk management, status reporting). - Strong organisational and multitasking capabilities. - Effective communication and presentation skills. - English fluency (reading, writing, speaking). **Required Education & Certifications:** - PhD in bioscience engineering, bioinformatics, or statistical data analysis **with ≥1 yr industry experience**; *OR* - MSc with **≥5 yrs equivalent industry experience**. - Proven competency through publications, code contributions, or relevant project work. ---
