**Job Title:** Senior Safety Engineer – Team Leader
**Role Summary:**
Lead and execute technical safety projects across national and international facilities, ensuring compliance with HSE, risk assessment, and functional safety standards. Foster a safety‑centric culture through mentorship, project management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver and potentially lead complex safety projects.
- Maintain rigorous safety documentation and procedures.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Mentor and develop junior safety engineers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare Safety Cases, HSE Management Systems, and ALARP analyses for diverse plant operations.
- Conduct hazard identification and assessment (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie) and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Perform functional safety analysis (FSA, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis).
- Model fire, explosion, and toxic gas consequences using PHAST, FRED, and similar tools.
- Execute quantitative risk assessments (QRA, BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, Facility Siting Studies) employing SAFETI, SHEPHERD, and related software.
- Manage large‑scale CFD projects leveraging HPC and cloud computing resources.
- Lead Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies.
- Ensure compliance with DSEAR, ATEX, and hazardous area classification requirements.
- Incorporate human factors and safety culture enhancement into project design.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities, including proposal writing and bid coordination.
- Report findings, recommendations, and project status to senior management and clients.
**Required Skills:**
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive safety engineering experience.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical reporting.
- Proficiency in safety assessment tools: HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie, FSA, FMECA, Fault Tree.
- Expertise in consequence modelling: PHAST, FRED.
- Experience with QRA and related studies (BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA).
- Commercial software proficiency: SAFETI, SHEPHERD.
- Capability to handle large‑scale CFD projects using HPC/cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of RAM study methodologies.
- Familiarity with DSEAR, ATEX, and hazardous area classification.
- Understanding of human factors, safety culture, and project management best practices.
- Ability to write proposals and coordinate bidding processes.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (or related science field).
- Valid professional safety certification or membership in an accredited safety professional body (e.g., ISO 45001, SEMA, PSM) is highly desirable.
