**Job title:** Application Solutions Architect (EU Citizen Required)
**Role Summary:**
Design, implement, and evolve enterprise-level Java applications and web services within a service-oriented architecture. Lead technical solutions, ensuring alignment with SOA, API, and microservices principles across multiple platforms and tooling ecosystems.
**Expactations:**
- Minimum 10 years Java development experience, 3+ years architect role.
- EU citizenship to work freely within Europe.
- Fluency in English and either French or Dutch; excellent written and verbal communication.
- On‑site presence in Brussels at least twice a week during initial 6 months, then remote with quarterly visits.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Architect and document scalable, secure web‑service solutions (SOAP, REST, OAuth2, JWT).
- Apply SOA design patterns, enterprise integration patterns, and microservices best practices.
- Lead end‑to‑end life‑cycle activities: design, coding, testing, deployment, release, support.
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation and specifications (XML/XSD, JSON, UML, BPMN).
- Guide agile/scrum teams; estimate, plan, review, and deliver on iterations.
- Mentor developers on standards, tools, and practices.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Hudson, ELK) and version control (Git).
- Validate integrations using SOAPUI, ReadyAPI, Postman; perform performance and security tests.
**Required Skills:**
- Java (8+), spring, servlet, JAX‑WS, RESTful services.
- Web services: WSDL, SOAP, XML/XSLT/XPath, XQuery, XSD.
- API standards: OAuth2, Swagger, JWT.
- Messaging: publish‑subscribe, Oracle Service Bus, OBTM, Axway, DataPower.
- Agile & Scrum, Kanban.
- Development methodologies: EUP, RUP, Scrum, Kanban.
- Project management frameworks: PMBOK, PRINCE2.
- ITIL processes.
- Enterprise Architecture: TOGAF.
- Tools: Eclipse, Rubix, WebLogic, Oracle Service Bus, GIT, SOAPUI, ReadyAPI, Postman, Jira, Confluence, Mural, Miro, Jenkins, Hudson, ELK.
- Scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications preferred: TOGAF, ITIL Foundation, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent; Scrum Master or Product Owner acceptable.
