**Job Title**
Senior System Engineer
**Role Summary**
A hands‑on, operational engineering role focused on maintaining Linux production and customer‑facing POS infrastructure, automating configuration, troubleshooting network and database issues, and ensuring high system reliability for mission‑critical retail environments.
**Expectations**
- Deliver rapid, effective incident resolution and root‑cause analysis for complex infrastructure and network problems.
- Lead automation initiatives to increase consistency, speed, and reliability across the Linux stack.
- Maintain continuous system stability and excellent customer experience while balancing multiple concurrent priorities.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux production and POS‑integrated systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain Ansible‑based automation for configuration management and deployments.
- Diagnose and resolve TCP/IP protocol‑level issues (routing, connectivity, latency, packet loss).
- Troubleshoot POS networks, on‑prem edge devices, and cloud data pipelines.
- Serve as escalation point for recurring incidents; conduct root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term remediation.
- Perform SQL‑based database troubleshooting, data validation, and basic performance tuning.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and support teams on infrastructure, configuration, and application defects.
- Use monitoring and observability tools to detect, analyze, and resolve performance and reliability issues.
- Document architecture, runbooks, operational procedures, and customer‑facing technical guidance.
- Build and maintain internal and external technical knowledge bases.
- Participate in off‑hour and weekend on‑call rotations for mission‑critical systems.
**Required Skills**
- Linux system administration in production environments.
- Proficiency with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Deep knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol stack and hands‑on protocol‑level troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting or integrating with POS/retail technology environments.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, customer‑centric setting.
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python) is a plus.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years in Systems Engineering, Technical Operations, or advanced Technical Support roles.
