Job Title: Industrial Cybersecurity Consultant
Role Summary:
Independent consultant responsible for designing, implementing, and testing cybersecurity controls for IT and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) across U.S. and Canadian client sites. Utilizes NIST CSF, NIST RMF, and industry-specific compliance standards to strengthen network, web application, and OT security.
Expectations:
- Provide end‑to‑end security solutions that improve client posture and meet compliance mandates.
- Deliver high‑quality technical documentation and clear communication to stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality, meet tight project deadlines, and continuously pursue industry certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, develop, and implement technical controls, procedures, and policies to meet cybersecurity compliance and regulatory standards.
- Conduct network penetration tests and vulnerability assessments on IT and OT networks.
- Perform detailed post‑event analysis of unusual events and recommend procedural changes.
- Develop policies and procedures for secure process‑control network design, including firewall and other security control recommendations.
- Compile technical documentation (traffic and firewall diagrams, service explanations) and maintain compliance records.
- Resolve technical issues, analyze business impact, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams and client divisions to integrate security solutions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client and project information and comply with applicable policies and standards.
- Pursue and maintain relevant cybersecurity certifications (ethical hacking, network engineering, ICSI, SCADA, risk management, etc.).
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of security principles and cybersecurity technologies.
- Proficiency in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and associated tools/techniques.
- Familiarity with security controls: firewalls, access control, authentication, anti‑virus/anti‑malware, patching, logging.
- Understanding of OT/ICS control systems used in utilities, manufacturing, oil & gas, transportation, smart buildings, and cities.
- Strong written and oral communication; technical writing and documentation expertise.
- Ability to operate under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to industrial/corporate/government environments.
- Knowledge of modern and legacy networking, telecommunications, and physical cabling for network communications and control system I/O.
- Capability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearances and client site access.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of related professional experience.
- Security+ certification preferred but not mandatory; ongoing pursuit of industry‑recognized cybersecurity certifications expected.
