Job title: Senior Software Engineer – Trust & Safety Platform
Role Summary: Lead technical design, architecture, and delivery of high‑performance, low‑latency backend services and APIs for a large‑scale trust & safety platform. Mentor a cross‑functional engineering team, drive modernization efforts, and collaborate with data, product, and platform teams to ship secure, reliable features that protect members.
Expectations: • Own multiple concurrent projects, setting technical direction and ensuring architectural coherence. • Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of code quality, testing, and knowledge sharing. • Partner with product managers, data engineers, and analysts to translate business requirements into robust system solutions. • Champion observability, automation, and performance optimization across services. • Influence policy, experimentation, and ML pipelines to enhance decision‑making at scale.
Key Responsibilities: • Design and evolve scalable backend architecture (Ruby on Rails or equivalent). • Implement, test, and deploy secure, high‑throughput APIs for trust & safety workflows. • Lead architectural reviews, refactoring initiatives, and technology migrations. • Mentor junior engineers and facilitate cross‑team collaboration. • Integrate caching, transactional databases, and observability tools to meet SLAs. • Drive performance tuning, reliability improvements, and incident post‑mortems. • Evaluate and adopt new tools and practices that increase delivery efficiency.
Required Skills: • 5+ years of production software engineering at scale. • Proven technical lead experience on complex projects. • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails or comparable web frameworks. • Deep knowledge of relational databases, caching systems, and large‑scale web architecture patterns. • Experience with API design, observability, automation, and performance engineering. • Excellent communication, mentorship, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Rails certifications) are a plus but not mandatory.
