Job Description
**Job title:** Staff DevOps Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead the design and evolution of cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation at a healthcare AI platform. Drive security, compliance, and scalability for AWS and Kubernetes environments while mentoring staff and shaping DevOps practices. **Expectations:** * Own end‑to‑end delivery pipeline and infrastructure governance. * Demonstrate leadership in security, compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA, HITRUST), and cost optimisation. * Act as a technical advocate for DevOps principles across product, security, and IT teams. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Automate deployment, configuration, and infrastructure operations across OS, databases, networks, and hybrid cloud. 2. Own and maintain Terraform IaC, enforcing policy‑as‑code, security, and compliance. 3. Design, implement, and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for code and infrastructure. 4. Manage EKS clusters – provisioning, scaling, upgrades, observability, and workload orchestration. 5. Secure AWS environments: encryption, backups, IAM, AWS Config, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, CloudWatch. 6. Monitor and log with Datadog, Sentry, and CloudWatch; set SLAs/SLOs and observability dashboards. 7. Collaborate with application teams for secure migration to services (CloudFront, ECS, EC2, ElastiCache, Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, Lambdas). 8. Promote Agile/DevOps transformation, continuous improvement, and adoption of best practices. 9. Identify and remediate security gaps; implement guardrails and scanning tools. 10. Design highly available, fault‑tolerant systems with disaster recovery and cost optimisation. 11. Participate in on‑call rotations and lead post‑incident reviews. **Required Skills:** * Expert in AWS (EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, IAM). * Deep knowledge of Kubernetes operations, cluster management, and observability. * Terraform mastery – IaC, modules, state management, policy‑as‑code. * CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent. * Strong security background – encryption, IAM, audits, SOC 2/HIPAA/HITRUST compliance. * Monitoring/logging tools: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Datadog, Sentry, Prometheus/Grafana. * Language familiarity: Go, Python, or similar for scripting/automation. * Agile and DevOps process design, cost monitoring, and optimisation. **Required Education & Certifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. * Preferred certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Terraform Associate. * Demonstrated experience leading DevOps teams or projects in complex, regulated environments.
