Job title: Infrastructure Engineer
Role Summary: 12‑month contract Infrastructure Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining core IT systems (servers, networking, storage, backups, telephony, client hardware) in a cross‑functional environment. Focus on security compliance, system performance, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Expectations: Deliver high‑quality technical support and project execution within scope, budget, and timeline. Maintain rigorous security standards, comply with patching, scanning, inventory, and hardening procedures. Communicate proactively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders and manage multiple priorities with a risk‑based approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and support Windows Server, networking, storage, backup, and client infrastructure.
- Apply security controls, patch management, vulnerability scanning, and hardening to meet compliance.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation, inventories, licensing, and change records.
- Provide on‑site and remote incident resolution and hands‑on engineering support.
- Contribute to business continuity, disaster recovery planning, and continuity testing.
- Collaborate with IT, business units, and external partners on issue resolution, system upgrades, and project delivery.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, recommend tools, and support pilots.
Required Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Entra, Windows Server & Desktop, Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance, Microsoft Office, and systems management/monitoring tools.
- Experience with storage platforms, licensing management, and inventory control.
- Strong coordination, planning, and communication skills.
- Effective change management, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to translate user issues into clear technical requirements.
- Proactive, independent, and collaborative mindset.
Desirable/Add‑on Skills: Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS), VMware, data networking, Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Intune & Configuration Manager, Mitel VOIP, Microsoft Exchange Online, PowerShell scripting, application packaging.
Required Education & Certifications: Degree in IT or related field, or equivalent professional experience. No mandatory certifications specified; Azure, VMware, and Microsoft security certifications are advantageous.
