Director of Software Engineering & Enterprise Architecture – Azure (Banking)
Role Summary
Lead enterprise architecture and software engineering to align technology strategy with business goals in a regulated banking environment. Own the architecture roadmap, governance framework, and delivery excellence across Azure cloud, core banking systems, and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap aligning with strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct current‑state assessments, gap analyses, and roadmap creation for target state architecture.
- Define and enforce architecture governance, principles, and technology standards.
- Oversee solution architecture for major programmes, changes, and transformation initiatives.
- Evaluate and select platforms, tools, and integration strategies for digital transformation.
- Lead the software engineering team: set DevSecOps, CI/CD, test automation, modern design principles.
- Drive adoption of cloud‑native, API‑first architectures on Azure.
- Establish metrics for delivery performance, reliability, and quality.
- Serve as technical liaison across IT, business, and operations; provide input to governance, risk, and investment forums.
- Support vendor selection, contract review, and third‑party architecture assessments.
- Mentor team members, building internal talent and succession pipelines.
Required Skills
- Executive leadership in software engineering and enterprise architecture.
- Deep knowledge of Azure Cloud, microservices, API design, and integration patterns.
- Proven experience with core banking systems (e.g., Temenos T24), digital channels, and trade finance integration.
- Hands‑on expertise in data architecture, data lakes/warehouses, ETL/ELT, Medallion layers, DataOps, governance, and visualization tools.
- Strong understanding of secure, scalable, resilient solution design across infrastructure, data, and application layers.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD, test automation, and modern software practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at senior levels.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications desirable: TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and related architecture or banking technology credentials.
