Job title: IT Engineer – Payments Architect
Role Summary
Senior architect responsible for designing, evolving, and governing payment solutions for banking clients, with strong focus on SWIFT, ISO 20022, and emerging payment technologies. Leads cross‑geographical teams in discovery, design, and integration phases, ensuring architectural alignment and reuse across initiatives.
Expectations
- 10+ years in senior IT/architecture roles, predominantly in payments or financial services.
- Strategic thinker with deep domain knowledge of SWIFT, CHAPS, MT↔MX translations, and ISO 20022.
- Proven ability to influence at the C‑suite level, engaging CTOs, CIOs, and CDOs.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Define architecture reference models and integration patterns for payment initiatives.
- Own discovery phases, constructing tailored strategies for each client.
- Provide architectural guidance during design to deliver high‑value financial products.
- Maintain a forward‑looking vision of the payments ecosystem, anticipating new capabilities.
- Promote collaboration and asset reuse across global initiatives.
- Engage with senior executives at client banks to shape architectural roadmaps.
- Specify integration architectures with client platforms, supporting microservices, cloud, and DevOps practices.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in SWIFT messaging, MT↔MX mapping, and ISO 20022.
- Strong knowledge of CHAPS and international payment flows.
- Proficiency in microservices frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus).
- Experience with cloud technologies, orchestration, and DevOps.
- Integration standards: SOAP, REST, messaging systems, and relational/noSQL data management.
- Agile methodology experience.
- Understanding of emerging tech (AI, blockchain) as applied to payments.
- High‑level conceptualization, synthesis, and strategic vision of technology platforms.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Equivalent experience acceptable.
- Industry certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ISO 20022, or payment‑specific credentials) considered an advantage.
