Job Description
Job Title 2026 Summer Intern – Electrical Engineer Role Summary Support multidisciplinary project teams on water resources, wastewater, and recycled water initiatives by designing electrical systems, performing load and lighting calculations, drafting construction documents, and coordinating with utilities. Expectations - Deliver high‑quality technical work within project timelines. - Adhere to engineering standards and safety requirements. - Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. - Maintain accurate documentation and records. Key Responsibilities - Assist with electrical system design, load and lighting calculations for water/wastewater facilities. - Draft single‑line diagrams, equipment elevations, panelboard and luminaire schedules, conduit/cable schedules, and electrical plan drawings in AutoCAD or MicroStation. - Prepare design calculations, equipment sizing, electrical room layouts, and cost estimates. - Create construction documents and specifications. - Submit utility coordination applications to local electric utilities. - Support QA/QC reviews, data compilation, and cost estimating. - Produce technical memoranda and contribute to preliminary and detailed design reports. - Participate in construction oversight and multidisciplinary coordination. Required Skills - Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles, including load and lighting calculations. - Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD or MicroStation). - Strong technical writing and documentation abilities. - Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. - Attention to detail, quality assurance mindset. - Effective communication and teamwork skills. Required Education & Certifications - Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate electrical engineering program (minimum sophomore standing). - CAD experience preferred. - Professional licensure (P.E.) not required.
