**Job Title**: Data Scientist – Geospatial Advanced Analytics
**Role Summary**
Leverage 10+ years of experience to design, develop, and deploy scalable geospatial data science solutions. Integrate cloud-based data pipelines, spatial statistical modeling, and machine learning to derive actionable insights for urban planning, transportation, resource management, and environmental monitoring.
**Expectations**
- Deliver end‑to‑end geospatial analytics projects within a 12‑month engagement.
- Lead technical strategy for data architecture, modeling, and visualization.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate geospatial queries into deployable solutions.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Maintain high standards for data quality, reproducibility, and performance.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and implement ETL workflows for ingesting satellite, aerial, LiDAR, and census data into cloud platforms.
- Build predictive models (e.g., urban growth forecasting, transportation demand, risk mapping) using spatial machine learning techniques.
- Perform spatial statistics, change detection, and feature extraction on large point‑cloud and imagery datasets.
- Develop web mapping applications and GIS dashboards for stakeholder consumption.
- Optimize data pipelines with Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka for real‑time analysis.
- Validate and document model assumptions, performance, and results for regulatory and operational use.
- Stay current with emerging geospatial technologies (e.g., GCP Earth Engine, Azure Cognitive Services) and best practices.
**Required Skills**
- **Programming**: Python (GeoPandas, Shapely, PySpark), R, SQL; proficiency in architecture for scalable pipelines.
- **Cloud Computing**: Expertise in GCP, AWS, or Azure for data storage, compute, and analytics services.
- **Data Science & Modeling**: Advanced predictive modeling, machine learning, spatial statistics, Bayesian inference.
- **GIS Software**: Professional use of Esri ArcGIS (Pro, Online, Enterprise) and QGIS.
- **Big Data Technologies**: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or similar for handling terabyte‑scale datasets.
- **Remote Sensing**: Experience with image classification, change detection, and feature extraction from satellite/aerial data.
- **LiDAR**: Point‑cloud processing and 3D modeling for infrastructure and resource applications.
- **Communication**: Ability to translate complex geospatial analytics into clear visualizations and stakeholder briefings.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in geospatial data science, analytics, or engineering roles.
- Certifications: Esri ArcGIS Desktop or Data Science Professional, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, or equivalent.
