Job Title: Communications and Livability Intern
Role Summary: Paid, 15‑40 hrs/week starting January 2026, supporting communications, content creation, social media, newsletters, event coordination, and volunteer community engagement for a nonprofit focused on people 50+.
Expectations: Current student (junior‑senior undergraduate, graduate, PhD, or continuing‑education participant); consistent enrollment; reliable attendance; 15‑40 hrs weekly; professional, efficient, multitaskable; meet deadlines; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs; no visa sponsorship; hybrid remote/office work within the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce written content: blog posts, articles, press releases, editorials for the organization’s website and external outlets.
- Compile and edit data for a monthly volunteer newsletter.
- Assist planning and execution of social‑media and email campaigns to increase reach and relevance.
- Create engaging social‑media assets (captions, visuals, short videos).
- Support Age‑Friendly volunteer teams in Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks: take meeting notes, conduct research.
- Help plan and host community events in Anchorage and Muskogee Valley.
- Provide administrative support: organize data, promotional materials, event promotion, and inventory.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Facebook and Twitter; familiarity with other social‑media platforms and blog‑interface tools a plus.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency.
- Strong research, writing, and proofreading abilities.
- Basic camera, microphone, lighting, tablet/smartphone handling, and editing‑software knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Organizational skills, ability to multitask, prioritize, work under deadlines, and exercise independent judgment.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited college/university; rising junior/senior undergraduate, graduate student, PhD candidate, or continuing‑education student.
