Job Description
**Job title** Automation Engineer (Expert) **Role Summary** Lead the design, programming, and commissioning of industrial automation systems. Serve as the technical reference for PLC and HMI development, ensuring high quality, performance, and consistency of programming standards across projects. Mentor colleagues, support production, and provide pre‑sales technical feasibility studies. **Expectations** - Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering design office. - Strong leadership and analytical mindset; autonomous execution of responsibilities. - Proven ability to communicate complex technical details to clients and end‑users. - Fluency in English (spoken and written). - Willingness to travel (≈ 20 % of the time) in France and internationally for client commissioning. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Program Development** – Analyze client requirements, define machine operations, develop PLC (Siemens, Allen Bradley) programs, and document associated technical specifications. 2. **Equipment Setup & Testing** – Conduct machine‑room tuning, verify operation, and debug systems. 3. **Client Commissioning** – Install and start‑up complex machinery at client sites; perform adjustments, monitor performance, document intervention reports, and ensure follow‑up. 4. **User Training & Support** – Present technical specifications to clients, conduct operator training, and provide ongoing support. 5. **Technical Leadership** – Coach junior automation engineers, enforce programming best practices, and oversee quality assurance of deliverables. 6. **Pre‑Sales & Feasibility** – Lead technical studies, estimate solution costs, and contribute to proposal development. **Required Skills** - PLC programming: Siemens TIA Portal (S7‑300/400/1200/1500), Allen Bradley (CoDeSys/Vision). - HMI development (Siemens WinCC, Allen Bradley PanelView/Fusion). - Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text. - Industrial protocols (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus, OPC‑UA). - Mechanical/industrial systems knowledge for tuning and commissioning. - Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent communication, teamwork, and client‑service orientation. - Proficiency in English. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor (BAC+3) to Master (BAC+5) in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Siemens Certified Automation Professional, Allen Bradley Certified Engineer) are preferred but not mandatory.
