Job Description
Job title: Sr Observability Engineer Role Summary: Lead observability strategy for cloud services, designing, deploying, and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and telemetry across multi‑cloud environments. Expectations: Deliver robust, scalable observability solutions with high uptime, enable proactive incident response, and continuously improve telemetry quality and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement end‑to‑end monitoring dashboards, NRQL queries, and APM configurations in New Relic. - Build and maintain alerting rules, incident playbooks, and automated remediation workflows. - Provision and manage infrastructure as code (Terraform/OpenTofu, CDK, CloudFormation, Chef, or Ansible) for observability components. - Integrate observability stack with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices. - Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and security teams to enforce compliance, secure telemetry data, and optimize resource usage. - Troubleshoot complex performance and reliability issues across multi‑cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure). - Mentor junior engineers and share best practices in observability and IaC. Required Skills: - 7+ years in Cloud Engineering (Observability, DevOps, SRE). - 3+ years with New Relic: Dashboards, NRQL, APM, alerting. - 3+ years IaC: Terraform/OpenTofu, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Chef, or Ansible. - Hands‑on experience with AWS (preferred) and/or GCP, Azure. - Proficient in scripting (Python, Go, Bash). - Strong cloud architecture, networking, Windows/Linux admin, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD. - Deep knowledge of security and compliance in regulated environments. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, New Relic Certified Engineer, or equivalent) preferred.
