Job Title: Subsea Project Engineer
Role Summary: Engineering professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of a multi‑year subsea installation project, including onshore project delivery and offshore execution aboard a dive support vessel. Works across functional teams and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective project outcomes.
Expectations: Deliver the project on schedule, within budget, and in line with Suncor’s D&MP, MOC, EH&S, quality, and risk standards. Act as the client representative offshore, ensuring SIMOPS, SJAs, and MOC processes are fully observed. Provide leadership in capture, closure, and lessons‑learned activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead onshore project management activities: opportunity capture, risk/lesson‑learning management, and project closeout.
- Coordinate interfaces with Marine & Aviation, Asset Integrity, EH&S, Quality, Document Control, Risk, and Regulatory functions.
- Interface with third‑party contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to develop and issue scope of work packages.
- Apply industry best practices in subsea construction and diving procedures to optimize performance and reduce cost/risk.
- Participate in offshore operations as the Suncor client representative: supervise SIMOPS reviews, Safe Job Assessments, and ensure MOC compliance.
- Maintain project documentation and compliance with project delivery models (planning, cost control, quality, document control).
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in subsea engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning, particularly during saturated diving operations.
- Strong project management skills in EH&S, cost control, planning, quality, and change management.
- Ability to manage cross‑functional interfaces and external partners effectively.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and compliance skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline).
- Minimum 5 years of oil & gas subsea project engineering experience, with demonstrated offshore client‑representative roles.
- Current MOC, SIMOPS, and Safe Job Assessment familiarity; additional certifications in diving support vessel operations preferred.
