Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager – DevOps
Role Summary:
Lead and grow a DevOps engineering team of 5+ senior engineers to design, build, and scale a resilient AI cloud infrastructure and developer platform. Drive cloud architecture, automation, security, and performance across multi‑region, multi‑cloud environments, enabling rapid product delivery for a fast‑growing AI startup.
Expectations:
* 7+ years of DevOps engineering with 3+ years of team leadership.
* 5+ senior engineers on team; manage hiring, mentorship, and career development.
* Own end‑to‑end platform initiatives, delivering measurable operational improvements.
* Collaborate closely with product, ML, search, data, and frontend teams to align infrastructure with product needs.
* Execute in a high‑velocity, iterative startup environment, owning decisions and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, and cost‑optimized cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent).
* Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible, Helm).
* Manage Kubernetes clusters and service mesh (Istio) deployments.
* Implement security best practices: IAM, VPC, VPN, KMS, certificates, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.
* Lead disaster recovery and data backup strategies across regions.
* Partner with security teams to enhance the infrastructure security posture.
* Drive measurable improvements in reliability, observability, and performance of foundational services.
Required Skills:
* Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2, ELB, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation).
* Strong networking knowledge (VPN, DNS, routing).
* Kubernetes and Istio administration.
* CI/CD tooling: Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Helm.
* Security domain knowledge: encryption, KMS, penetration testing, vulnerability management.
* Leadership: hiring, mentorship, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement.
* Ownership mindset, problem‑solving at startup pace.
Required Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
* Relevant cloud certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, CKA).
