Job title: Sr. Linux System Administrator
Role Summary:
Senior Linux System Administrator responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing Linux-based infrastructures on-premises and in AWS. Must lead automation, patch management, security hardening, and incident response to ensure high availability, scalability, and compliance.
Expectations:
- Deliver robust, secure, and cost-effective Linux environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
- Drive automation and configuration management practices to increase operational efficiency.
- Actively maintain security posture through vulnerability assessments, remediation, and adherence to internal policies.
- Provide 24/7 on‑call support and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on capacity planning and infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in physical, virtual, and AWS environments.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management using Ansible (and related tools).
- Plan and execute system patches, upgrades, and RHEL in‑place migrations.
- Design, implement, and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, etc.) with focus on scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Perform vulnerability assessments (Qualys, CrowdStrike) and implement remediation strategies.
- Manage Red Hat Satellite content views and lifecycle environments.
- Utilize ServiceNow and JIRA for incident, change, and workflow management.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; proactively mitigate risks.
- Troubleshoot complex Linux system and application issues.
- Enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Produce detailed system documentation and maintain knowledge base.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for critical support.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and networking teams on infrastructure initiatives and improvements.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Strong server deployment, configuration management, patching, and virtualization (VMware, KVM) expertise.
- Deep knowledge of AWS services and infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in Ansible or similar automation/configuration tools.
- Experience with vulnerability management tools and remediation.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM processes.
- Solid networking fundamentals and security principles.
- Scripting in Bash, Python, or equivalent languages.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC) and AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) are strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, CIS) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
