**Job Title:** DevOps Engineer (Mid)
**Role Summary:**
Support cloud migration and development for USDA FPAC, focusing on automated CI/CD, infrastructure maintenance, and security monitoring within an AWS environment. Collaborate with product owners and cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and operate scalable, secure cloud solutions.
**Expectations:**
Deliver end‑to‑end DevOps pipelines, continuously improve automation, ensure compliance with FedRAMP, and troubleshoot complex cloud and application issues. Communicate status, risks, and solutions to stakeholders and adhere to security clearance and federal contracting requirements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Pair with product owners to define features, estimate effort, and prioritize work.
- Write, debug, and deploy Infrastructure‑as‑Code via Puppet, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Design and operationalize CI/CD pipelines using BitBucket, GitHub, Docker, and other DevOps tooling.
- Implement automated containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS).
- Maintain and enhance AWS services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Ensure secure, compliant deployments on FedRAMP‑approved platforms.
- Monitor performance, reliability, and security using X‑Ray, CloudWatch, ELK, and custom dashboards.
- Troubleshoot network, storage, compute, and identity issues across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to process improvements and best‑practice documentation.
- Provide regular updates to management and support multiple concurrent projects.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years in enterprise cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) engineering, primarily AWS.
- Proficiency with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet, Ansible).
- Strong CI/CD experience (BitBucket, GitHub, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
- Advanced shell scripting (BASH, PowerShell) and experience with Python, Go, or Perl.
- Networking fundamentals: VPC, Route53, ELB, NAT, IPsec, routing, DNS.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, X‑Ray, ELK, Prometheus).
- Knowledge of FedRAMP compliance and secure deployment practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) preferred.
- ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
- Additional Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud certifications are a plus.
