Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer
Role Summary: Senior Cloud Systems Engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable infrastructure on AWS GovCloud for a government examination tool. Works closely with development and platform teams to enable cloud-native delivery and migration of legacy systems.
Expactations: • 10+ years total tech experience, with ≥5 years in cloud platform engineering.
• Proven ability to lead end‑to‑end DevOps practices, from SDLC to production operations, in high‑security environments.
• Demonstrated success in optimizing cost and security for federal cloud deployments (FedRAMP, FISMA).
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy, and maintain IaaS/PaaS/SaaS solutions on AWS GovCloud, using CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Azure DevOps) for automated build, test, and deployment of containerized workloads.
- Design and implement secure, stateless application architectures, including load balancers, API Gateways, and caching layers.
- Migrate legacy applications to cloud‑ready designs, ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
- Apply identity federation (SAML, Okta, OAuth, OpenID Connect) to secure access for internal and external users.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize infrastructure performance and cost.
- Document architecture, processes, and security controls in line with agency guidelines.
Required Skills:
- AWS (GovCloud) expertise, including EC2, S3, ELB, API Gateway, and security services.
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code: CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform.
- Scripting: Python 3.x (data engineering with pandas/Databricks/SPARK), PowerShell.
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes or ECS/EKS.
- CI/CD & DevOps tools: GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
- Cloud security fundamentals, FedRAMP/FISMA compliance, risk assessment.
- Cost‑management practices for multi‑region, multi‑account AWS environments.
- RESTful API design and JSON/XML handling.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional, and/or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (certifications preferred).
- Experience with government cloud certifications (FedRAMP, FISMA) is a plus.
