Job Description

**Job Title:** AI/ML Lead **Role Summary:** Senior AI/ML engineering contractor leading technical direction and team management for a temporary Principal AI Engineer role. Focus is on building and operating production‑grade personalization models and supporting the organization’s AI platform. **Expactations:** - Deliver strategic guidance and day‑to‑day leadership for a cross‑functional AI/ML team during a transitional period. - Maintain project cadence, structure, and quality standards while steering engineering discussions and stakeholder communications. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the design, implementation, and scale of ranking and recommendation systems in production. - Own end‑to‑end ML pipelines: data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, A/B testing, and deployment. - Direct cloud‑based model serving and API design for real‑time inference. - Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive best practices in ML engineering. - Coordinate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to align models with business objectives. - Conduct experiments, analyze results, and iterate on model performance. **Required Skills:** - 12+ years of experience building and operating production ML systems. - Deep expertise in ranking models, recommendation engines, model evaluation, and experimental design. - Proficiency in Python, Spark (or equivalent big data frameworks), cloud ML pipelines, and model serving solutions. - Experience designing robust APIs for ML services. - Strong organizational and project‑management skills for complex, temporary leadership roles. - Excellent communication skills: translate technical details into actionable insights for partners and stakeholders. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field. - Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, GCP Professional Machine Learning Engineer, or Azure AI Engineer Associate are highly preferred.
