**Job Title**
Network Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure for an expanding fintech company operating across multiple African countries. Own the complete networking stack, ensuring connectivity, security, and performance for all office locations, while driving automation and standardization.
**Expectations**
- Deliver reliable network services to support rapid business growth.
- Own end-to-end network lifecycle, from design to decommissioning.
- Implement zero-touch, self-healing, and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business units.
- Attend periodic travel to operations sites (up to 50 % travel first year).
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and implement network architecture for >7 countries, covering 2,000+ endpoints per site.
- Standardize network stack and internet management across all locations.
- Own disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Manage network hardware lifecycle: procurement, maintenance, monitoring.
- Automate orchestration of VLANs, VPNs, zero‑trust, firewall rules, and hardware configuration.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and self‑healing mechanisms.
- Perform traffic engineering, load balancing, and topology management.
- Handle incident response and coordination with stakeholders.
- Maintain inventory and documentation of network assets.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years as a Network Engineer with multi‑site, international experience.
- Expertise in firewalls (Palo Alto, Sophos), switching (Cisco, HPE), WLAN (Cisco, Aruba, Sophos).
- Strong scripting in Python; automation with Puppet or Ansible.
- Deep understanding of VLANs, VPNs, zero‑trust models, and firewall rule sets.
- Experience with disaster recovery, traffic engineering, and load balancing.
- Excellent communication and expectation management.
- Self‑starter with high attention to detail and proactive problem‑solving.
- French language proficiency or willingness to learn.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Professional certifications in networking and security (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, PAN‑OS, Palo Alto, Aruba, Sophos, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
