Job title: Systems Engineer I
Role Summary:
Provide ongoing technical support and manage IT infrastructure for client organizations in a Managed Service Provider environment. Ensure secure, reliable operation of servers, networks, and cloud services while delivering solutions that enhance performance and uptime.
Expectations:
Deliver high‑quality, timely support; maintain system availability; lead or assist in infrastructure projects; uphold security best practices; document configurations and service activities; communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incidents and resolve hardware, software, networking, and security issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, networks, and applications.
- Deploy and manage operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), and cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Monitor server, network, and application performance using tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, or Datto.
- Implement security measures: firewall configuration, antivirus, encryption, access controls.
- Manage patching, vulnerability assessments, and intrusion detection/prevention.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Lead or support projects (server migrations, network upgrades, cloud integrations).
- Create and maintain documentation, SOPs, and performance reports.
- Provide on‑site support and travel as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficient with Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper‑V, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and security practices.
- Experience with configuration/automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with capability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Required Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure.
- No specific certifications required.
