Job title: Azure Data AI/ML Engineer (Contract)
Role Summary:
Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines that enable enterprise data to feed Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications. Deliver retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, integrate AI services (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or open‑source models), and oversee model fine‑tuning, evaluation, and deployment workflows.
Expectations:
- US citizens only.
- 4‑6 month contract with potential extension/transition to permanent.
- Local to Columbus, OH or willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architect and optimize data pipelines for LLM‑powered systems.
2. Integrate LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, LLaMA, Mistral) with curated enterprise data.
3. Build and manage RAG pipelines linking structured/unstructured data to model context.
4. Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and AI researchers for data readiness and model performance alignment.
5. Implement agentic architectures using frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or equivalents.
6. Enforce AI security, compliance, and data governance (prompt injection defenses, data privacy).
7. Automate LLM evaluation, fine‑tuning, and deployment cycles.
8. Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure high availability, scalability, and accuracy of AI data pipelines.
9. Document design patterns, integration strategies, and operational playbooks.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience as Data Engineer or ML Engineer with LLM/Generative AI system integrations.
- Strong Python and SQL proficiency; experience with distributed data frameworks (Spark, Databricks).
- Practical knowledge of RAG architectures and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, FAISS).
- Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of AI security, prompt injection mitigation, and data privacy.
- Experience with Azure AI services (Azure OpenAI, Azure Databricks, Azure AI).
- Excellent problem‑solving, cross‑functional collaboration, and documentation skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
