Job Description: **Job Title:** Senior DevOps Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead the design, development, and operation of automated build and deployment infrastructure for mission‑critical space communications software. Own end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines, cloud provisioning, and Kubernetes operations to support U.S. Government satellite services. Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and collaborate with software teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality, production‑ready automation that meets strict reliability and security standards. - Guide engineering practices, mentor teammates, and shape the technical direction of the DevOps organization. - Maintain expertise in evolving cloud and container technologies, ensuring infrastructure aligns with current best practices. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Atlantis pull‑request workflows, and Terraform‑managed cloud infrastructure. - Operate multiple Kubernetes clusters in production, packaging applications with Helm charts. - Configure and manage federated message bus systems and integrate third‑party platforms. - Own technical incident response, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis end‑to‑end. - Support software engineering teams with CI/CD tooling, guide them on best practices, and ensure seamless integration with cloud services. - Execute self‑directed learning and apply new technologies to improve automation and system reliability. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of progressive DevOps or software engineering experience. - Hands‑on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in a production environment. - Strong proficiency in Python or Go for scripting and automation. - Expertise in Ansible configuration management. - Deep knowledge of Terraform for IaC, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and Helm for chart packaging. - Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Atlantis for IaC review automation. - Familiarity with message bus architectures and integration patterns. - Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams. - Strong problem‑solving mindset: identify critical issues, drive solutions, and deliver measurable outcomes. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent professional experience. - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (required for this role).
