**Job Title:** Middleware Administration
**Role Summary**
Senior middleware administrator responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of enterprise middleware platforms—including Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, and Tomcat. Works on multi‑environmented, high‑availability systems while coordinating with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure uptime, security, and compliance.

- 8–10 years of hands‑on middleware administration experience with the products listed above.
- Proven ability to manage large, production‑grade deployments in a contract environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication with cross‑functional teams and ability to document processes clearly.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Install, upgrade, and patch middleware stacks on Linux/Windows servers.
2. Configure application servers, cluster nodes, and integrated services (SSL, SSO, JDBC, JNDI).
3. Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and load‑balancing of middleware components.
4. Implement and maintain backup, disaster‑recovery, and failover procedures.
5. Monitor system health using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar; respond to alerts and resolve incidents.
6. Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for routine tasks and deployments.
7. Apply security hardening best practices (patch management, user access controls, compliance checks).
8. Produce documentation, run‑books, and knowledge‑transfer materials for team use.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise with Apache HTTP Server, J2EE, Java, JBoss EAP, IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, Apache Tomcat.
- Experience with clustering, high‑availability, and load‑balancing of application servers.
- Proficient in Java application debugging, JMX, JConsole, and performance profiling tools.
- Strong scripting abilities (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform).
- Knowledge of network fundamentals, LDAP/AD, SSL/TLS, and enterprise security policies.
- Problem‑resolution mindset and capacity to work under pressure in a contract setting.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Industry certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional – Java EE, IBM WebSphere Application Server Administrator, Oracle WebLogic Server Administrator, or Red Hat Certified Specialist: JBoss EAP.
