**Job Title:** Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider (PA or PMHNP)
**Role Summary:**
Provide direct onsite and telepsychiatry care to assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor mental‑health disorders. Collaborate with psychiatrists, clinical directors, and multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans, manage crises, and ensure continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver high‑quality psychiatric services within client policies and formularies.
- Maintain flexibility for schedule changes, on‑call duties, and travel as a medical escort.
- Uphold patient confidentiality, universal precautions, and documentation standards.
- Participate in peer review, program development, and mentorship of new APPs.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and initiate/adjust treatment plans.
- Provide scheduled, urgent, and emergency psychiatric care via onsite visits and telepsychiatry.
- Perform admission, discharge, and daily rounding for patients requiring higher‑level psychiatric monitoring.
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with DEA regulations and client formularies.
- Coordinate referrals, review pertinent records, and interpret diagnostic/lab results.
- Deliver patient education, emotional support, and crisis intervention (violence, self‑harm, suicide prevention).
- Document all encounters in required health‑record format; ensure accurate coding and compliance.
- Serve on‑call for urgent mental‑health needs; may travel domestically or overseas as a medical escort.
- Mentor new Psychiatric APPs, attend meetings, and contribute to policy review and data collection.
**Required Skills:**
- Clinical assessment and diagnostic expertise in psychiatry.
- Prescriptive authority for controlled substances (DEA‑registered preferred).
- Proficiency in telepsychiatry platforms and electronic health records.
- Crisis management and suicide/violence prevention.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with LEP patients using interpretation services.
- Collaborative teamwork with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
- Documentation accuracy, adherence to universal precautions, and confidentiality.
- Flexibility for on‑call coverage and travel requirements.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- **Physician Assistant (PA) Path:** Unrestricted PA state license, NCCPA certification, ARC‑PA accredited PA degree, Certificate of Added Qualification in Psychiatry (NCCPA). DEA registration and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- **Nurse Practitioner (NP) Path:** Unrestricted PMHNP state license, ANCC certification, graduate degree in Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nursing from CCNE or ACEN‑accredited program (Master’s or Doctoral). DEA registration and BLS certification preferred.
- Minimum 6 months (preferably 3‑5 years) full‑time experience delivering direct psychiatric care.
