**Job Title**
Storage Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, deploy, and maintain scalable enterprise storage environments spanning NFS, SMB, and cloud platforms. Lead capacity planning, performance optimization, and data protection strategies while ensuring high availability and compliance with industry standards.
**Expectations**
- Deliver reliable, secure, and efficient storage solutions that meet business growth and disaster‑recovery requirements.
- Maintain proficiency with leading storage vendors and cloud services; apply best practices for data integrity and analytics.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to align storage architecture with IT strategy and operational objectives.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and implement storage systems using NetApp, Dell EMC, Azure Files, and on‑prem solutions.
- Configure and manage NFS, SMB, and other protocols; enforce access controls and secure networking.
- Plan and execute RAID configurations, snapshots, deduplication, compression, and tiering to optimize performance and capacity.
- Monitor storage health, capacity, and performance; analyze logs and metrics with Splunk, Kusto, or similar tools.
- Design and implement backup, replication, and disaster‑recovery strategies across hybrid environments.
- Troubleshoot storage‑related incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and apply preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate documentation, configuration baselines, and procedural guidelines.
- Advise on and support capacity forecasts, budget planning, and technology roadmap initiatives.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise with NetApp, Dell EMC, and Azure Files storage platforms.
- Proficient in NFS, SMB, and other file‑system protocols.
- Strong understanding of RAID levels, snapshot management, deduplication, and compression.
- Experience with storage analytics using Splunk, Kusto, or comparable systems.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, subnetting, NFS/SMB traffic tuning).
- Scripting/automation in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of backup, replication, and disaster‑recovery principles.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Optional certifications: NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), Dell EMC Proven Professional – Storage Administrator (DCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Storage Engineer Associate, CompTIA Storage+.
